This a question about the Inerrancy of the bible.
Did God prepare David to face enemies like Goliath to kill them? How did God intend Israel to possess the promised land? I get that they were not seeing God accurately so they behaved as they understood God to be, but if they had understood the true nature of God how would these stories have played out ? Was it even Gods intention to give someone elses possessions to Israel, or is that too a product of Israel misunderstanding Gods plan for them.
I’m sure the bible is true but what is it true about?
Thanks for the questions, you may want to re-post each question separately, I think you’ve 5 questions here.
I found, what I think, is a good answer to your question: “Did God prepare David to face enemies like Goliath to kill them?”
I found the answer on the Ransomed Heart site. Hope this answers that question…enjoy
This is what lies behind the story of David and Goliath. > https://www.ransomedheart.com/daily-reading/do-i-have-what-it-takes
Thanks for the link, it contained well written material from the regular perspective that “God was supporting Israel in murdering, raping, stealing their way into promises God made to them”. My question, asked in 5 ways, is ” if the unchangeable God of the universe has always been a forgiver of enemies, blessing those who curse him, and preferring nonviolence over retribution, how do we understand differences between God’s preferred method for us to achieve victory and men’s own impressions on how it should be achieved”. It seems that men everywhere made god’s after their own image . . . god’s that were “on their side”. Israel was on a trajectory towards knowing the true nature of God, but this was still a very long way from Jesus who showed the perfect image of the unchangeable God. God is not on my side and therefore against my enemies. . . Joshua’s angel says as much. The gods of men always share the same enemies as the men who worship them, it’s all too convenient don’t you think? I believe that the judgement Israel used to judge the Canaanites (and others)was used to accuse and judge them in return. Israel was certainly guilty of the same sins as all those they killed or enslaved. Therefore they also were killed and enslaved. I think the bible is a true account of the trajectory of men’s understanding of the true nature of God over thousands of years but not a true account of the true nature of God . . .Until Jesus. What words of encouragement do you think Jesus would have offered to David as he entered into the conflict with the Philistines?
